What is Hypnotherapy?

If you've never experienced hypnosis before, it's completely natural to wonder what it will feel like.

Hypnosis is simply a state of focused attention and relaxation. You may already experience something similar when you're absorbed in a book, watching a film or driving a familiar route and suddenly realising you've arrived.

During hypnosis, you remain in control. You'll be able to hear my voice and can bring yourself out of the relaxed state whenever you choose.

What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a positive, practical and forward looking approach that combines psychotherapy with hypnosis and is informed by neuroscience and our understanding of how the brain works.

Rather than spending our sessions analysing everything that has happened in the past, we'll concentrate on where you are now and, most importantly, where you would like to be.

I'll help you recognise your existing strengths and resources, notice what's already working and identify small, achievable steps towards your goals.

At Hypnotherapy with Saima, our sessions are about working together to help you move towards positive, lasting change — at a pace that feels right for you.

Anxiety

Anxiety is something many of us experience from time to time, but when worrying, overthinking or feelings of unease start to take over, it can affect how you feel and live day to day.

You might find it difficult to switch off, struggle with sleep, feel constantly on edge or notice physical symptoms such as a racing heart or butterflies in your stomach. Sometimes, you may not even know why you feel anxious.

At Hypnotherapy with Saima, I’ll help you understand what is happening in your brain when you experience anxiety and, importantly, what you can do to help change it. Together, we’ll focus on your strengths, where you want to be and the small positive steps that can help you move towards a calmer, more confident you.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help you understand how the brain responds to anxiety and support you in developing calmer, more positive patterns of thinking. Rather than focusing heavily on the past or the problem, we focus on your strengths, your preferred future and the small, achievable steps that can help you move towards it.

Depression

Depression can feel different for everyone. You may experience persistent low mood, lack of motivation, tiredness, negative thinking or simply feel that you have lost some of the enjoyment you once had in life.

My approach isn't about repeatedly going over everything that has gone wrong. Instead, we'll gently focus on what you would like life to look and feel like moving forward.

Using Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, I'll support you in recognising your strengths, noticing positive changes and taking manageable steps towards feeling more like yourself again.

Stress

We all experience stress, and a certain amount is a normal part of life. But when your stress levels remain high for too long, it can become difficult to switch off and may begin to affect your sleep, mood, concentration and overall wellbeing.

During our sessions, I'll help you understand why your brain responds to stress in the way it does and how you can begin to regain a greater sense of calm and control.

We’ll focus on what is going well, what you would like to change and the small, achievable steps that can make a meaningful difference.

OCD

OCD can involve unwanted or intrusive thoughts, worries or fears that create anxiety, alongside behaviours or mental rituals that you may feel compelled to carry out to reduce that anxiety.

These patterns can feel difficult to break, particularly when anxiety levels are already high.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy allows us to work positively towards the changes you would like to see, focusing on reducing anxiety, recognising your strengths and developing more helpful patterns of thinking.

IBS

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a common digestive condition that can cause symptoms such as bloating, abdominal discomfort, cramping and changes in bowel habits. Symptoms can vary from person to person and may sometimes become worse during periods of stress or anxiety.

The brain and digestive system are closely connected through what is often called the gut-brain connection, which means that how we feel emotionally can influence how our digestive system responds.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can support you in managing stress and anxiety, encouraging greater relaxation and helping you feel more in control of your response to symptoms. Together, we'll focus on the positive changes you would like to make and the small steps that can support your overall wellbeing.

If you're experiencing new or unexplained digestive symptoms, it's important to speak to your GP or healthcare professional to rule out other possible causes.

Phobias

A phobia is an intense fear of a particular object, situation or experience. While we all have things that make us feel uncomfortable, a phobia can create a much stronger fear response, sometimes leading you to avoid situations that interfere with everyday life.

Common phobias can include fears of flying, heights, spiders, needles, enclosed spaces or social situations. Sometimes, even thinking about the feared situation can trigger feelings of anxiety.

Our brains are designed to protect us from danger, but sometimes the brain can respond as though something is threatening even when we know logically that we are safe.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help you understand and manage this fear response. Together, we'll focus on reducing anxiety, building confidence and helping you feel calmer and more in control around the situation you fear.
